Treatment to Inhibit Protein that causes BSE and vCJD

This work is concerned with testing a method for decreasing the activity of the prion protein that is believed to be the cause of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) also known as mad cow disease. This work is being done to try to find treatments to inhibit BSE disease in cows, and to provide clues as to how similar transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE) diseases could be treated in sheep (scrapie) and people (vCJD).
