Enhancing Liver Regeneration
Over 3,000 liver resections are performed each year in the UK for tumours, trauma and transplantation. In those patients requiring large areas of liver tissue to be removed, or who have pre-existing liver disease, there is an increased risk of causing liver failure. We propose that by providing the liver with the essential building blocks for growth, the speed of liver healing could be increased, offering a new treatment for this challenging group of patients.
