Epigenetic Control of Mammalian Development
We are studying two areas of basic research (1) The molecular mechanisms that package DNA into chromosomes within the cell. How the DNA is packaged influences whether the genes themselves are active or repressed and this is important for the normal functioning of cells. (2) We are studying the functions of a set of genes regulated by chromosome packaging in a special way. Unlike most genes, these genes are only expressed from one of the two chromosomes in a pair.
