Stem cell grafting for restoration of visual function

At present, treatment for serious human retinal degenerative conditions leading to blindness and affecting a large proportion of the population, are only supportive or slow down disease progression. These diseases include age-related macular degeneration (AMD), glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment and retinitis pigmentosa (RP) amongst others. AMD alone affects over 12 million people worldwide.
