Understanding function PD-EGGF/TP

Approximately 1 in 3 of the human population will develop some form of cancer during their lifetime. Normally the number of cells present in our bodies is very tightly controlled. We lose and gain cells at approximately equivalent rates as adults, although this is not the case during our childhood years to enable us to grow and develop. When the balance is shifted and we are no longer able to stop cell growth in particular areas of the body, then cancers develop which can be associated with the development of a solid mass of tissue or tumour.
