Regulation of T cell immunity and autoimmunity
Diabetes affects 17 million people worldwide and in about 10% of cases this is because cells of the immune system attack and destroy the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas. The aim of our research is to understand the signals that cause the immune cells to attack the pancreas and to identify the mechanisms that prevent this in healthy individuals.
