Interleukin-1 and seizures
Current medical therapy for epilepsy is symptomatic, treating the seizure rather the underlying cause. There is therefore an urgent need to gain a greater understanding of the mechanisms that cause seizures so that better treatments can be developed and perhaps even a cure found.
