Cardio protection and regeneration of injured adult arteries
The purpose of this project is to understand the processes underlying the onset of heart disease via the blockage of arteries (coronary occlusion) which leads to lack of oxygen to the heart (ischaemia) and how to repair and regenerate new blood vessels and heart muscle once the heart becomes injured following myocardial ischaemia; recognised clinically as a heart attack.
