Imaging gastrointestinal inflammatory and neurological disease
The objectives of this Project Licence are three-fold:
1. Use imaging technology that is widely used in humans (mainly magnetic resonance imaging – MRI) to gain a better understanding of the disease processes that occur in animal models of gut inflammation and brain diseases. These are severe illnesses where patients can suffer for a long time and where it is difficult to develop effective medicines.
2. Improve the ways in which we monitor animal health and function, as well as improve our scientific techniques so that we can better detect the effects of new medicines. In combination, this will minimise the impact of our studies on our animals.
3. Provide results that will support the investigation of new medicines in patients
