373: Characterisation of coronary artery ligation
For many countries, cardiovascular disease has reached alarming proportions being by far the greatest cause of premature mortality. Recent figures from the UK indicate that it accounts for 4 of every 10 deaths, with coronary heart disease (CHD), being the greatest cause, accounting for 22% of deaths in men and 12% of deaths in women, furthermore, a large proportion of these deaths are the result of myocardial infarction (heart attack).
