381: Mechanisms of neurodegeneration and their pharmacological treatment
Neurodegenerative diseases, like Parkinson’s disease (PD) have a major impact on quality of life and are predicted to increase in incidence as the life span of the population increases. At present we do not know what causes PD and nor do we have drugs to adequately treat it. This project aims to use models of PD to identify factors that may cause the disease and hence direct future drug development, and to test novel drug therapies in suitable models with the view of taking effective drugs into clinical trials in man.
