324: Analgesia and disease modification in osteoarthritis
The cause of osteoarthritis (OA) is unknown and treatment is restricted to managing relief of pain. Ultimately patients will undergo total knee or hip replacement therapy if pain cannot be controlled This project aims to use animal models of osteoarthritis to identify and target mechanisms associated with the disease in order to discover and develop safe and effective drugs which will relieve patient suffering, improve joint mobility and quality of life for millions of sufferers afflicted with this debilitating condition.
