144: Annexin complexes in angiogenesis

For a cancer to grow it needs a food supply and for this it uses the bodies own blood vessel system. The cancer gives of signals to start the growth of new blood vessels into the tumour. Without these blood vessels the cancer would not grow. The aim of this project is to understand how blood vessels grow and move into the tumour. This will allow us to design strategies to stop blood vessel growth and these could in the future lead to new medicines against cancer.
