275-07: The control of epithelial cell development
This project aims to find the genes which normally control the programming of epithelial cells as they form in a developing animal. Epithelial cells are the cells that line the surface of the body, these include the skin and digestive tract. During cancer formation these cells lose there normal properties and take on those of a cancer cell, including increased proliferation and migration to new areas of the body.
