CCTV guidance
How CCTV can be used in a variety of different scenarios and the guidance offered by HOSDB to ensure that systems meet operators' needs.
Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is used for a variety of purposes by many types of organisation. Some government departments use it in guarding perimeters and national borders, most small businesses use it to protect their premises and goods and local authorities and police forces mainly use it for public safety.
Operational requirements guidance
We publish comprehensive operational requirements guidance for organisations who wish to install or upgrade CCTV systems. This guidance concentrates on how to best determine your requirements and ensure that the system meets these as closely as possible.
We also publish the UK Police Requirements For Digital CCTV Systems, which helps operators understand the needs of the police.
Both these publications are available on our free CCTV CD
As well as our CD of operational requirements we now have a training DVD which provides non-technical users and those buying CCTV systems with an outline of the concepts involved in selecting and using CCTV systems. Lasting 45 minutes, it uses graphics, video and narration to help visualise the issues involved. For a free copy of the DVD contact Norman Fennell.
Other publications include the Digital Imaging Procedure. This provides broad guidance to police on managing their digital picture and video evidence.
