Police equipment and technology

Supporting police operations

We help the police in their day-to-day operations and with security at major events.

We support the police in their security operations at more than 70 major events and operations each year.

Our National Technical Support Unit  provides specialised equipment, hands-on technical support and advice to help the police provide security at events or to help in day-to-day operations.

Our stock of equipment

We hold a central stock of the latest search and surveillance equipment which is provided to police forces on request. This means that police forces don't have to keep complex and expensive equipment.

Over £1 million of equipment was used at the 2002 Commonwealth Games, made up of over 100 different technologies.  We are already planning for the 2012 Olympics

We provide comprehensive security strategies, and the most sophisticated and expensive equipment required to achieve 24/7 security. Equipment ranges from:

  • electronically-stabilised binoculars
  • perimeter sensors
  • thermal imagery equipment
  • remote control surveillance equipment
  • explosives detection equipment
  • x-ray screening
  • weapon detection technologies

Our specialist advice is vital: our engineers know how to operate the equipment, what it can do and how get the best out of it.

At every event, HOSDB works to its customers' requirements. If a technical solution is not commercially available, we can customise equipment in-house.
