With the huge number of CCTV installations in the UK, video is playing an ever increasing role in crime investigation, from petty theft to terrorist attacks.
In major investigations, police forces may need to process thousands of hours of video recordings. HOSDB is investigating ways that technology could improve the speed and effectiveness of video processing.
Our training manual for video processing and analysis has been well received by UK police forces and has attracted international interest. We also run regular imaging workshops for police technical staff. These offer an opportunity to share best practice and keep up to date with new video processing technology and techniques. The programme is supported and steered by an ACPO group of police practitioners.
